Performative spaces and the body as interface
The Body as Interface
Sonia Cillari, a trained architect turned media artist, explores through her work and its underlining research the notion that the body is an interface which, as a ‘generator of perceptions’, puts us in contact with the outside world – our environment and one another – re-creating it internally and interacting with its inner representation. Sonia creates interactive environments at the intersection of architecture and performance art to explore the boundaries of the self and the body as object and subject together, in poetic and at times subversively confronting ways. Blurring the line between active performer and passive spectator, she seeks to rediscover interaction as a fundamental human experience in its different modalities, from intimate, to personal, to social.
