In 1996 the old swimming pool was redeveloped into a theater with a tearoom, two foyers, and 5 halls: De Grote Zaal (the former swimming pool hall), De Kleine Zaal (the former wading pool), Het Ketelhuis (the former boiler room), Het Diepe (the basin of the former pool) and De Studio. From 1989-2012 the building hosted the Vrije Academie; it was modified according to the art school’s needs to make ateliers, workshops spaces, and a gallery space on the ground floor which remained open as GEMAK until 2015. Various initiatives from the creative sector are currently based in the building, such as LUST / LUSTLab, Maquetteatelier, Trapped in Suburbia, Marsdiep, Kok Pistolet, Bureau Visueel en Windmakers. An experimental plan is being developed for the exhibition space to create a publicly accessible laboratory in the intersection of art and technology.

With many thanks to the LUSTlab Foundation for making the Baruch Pavilion exhibition space available to the Modern Body Festival.

Quartair
– 29 November – 1 December 2016 –

Quartair is a platform for production, presentation and artistic debate.
