We’re excited to finally share our aftermovies from Modern Body Festival 2018!

Between Oct 26-28 and Nov 2-3 2018, Modern Body Festival 2018: ALIEN BODIES took over several repurposed locations in The Hague. Our 3rd biennial edition explored the alien in all of us through an exhibition, performances and symposium. Below you can watch the aftermovies for our performances and exhibition program!

Impressions from ALIEN BODIES performance weekend (Nov 2-3)

Our 3rd edition, ALIEN BODIES, is  behind us – it was a whirlwind and an adventure!!! A big THANK YOU to everyone for coming out, to our artists, staff and crew, volunteers and visitors! On November 2 & 3, this edition’s second weekend,  we held our performance event at Theater De Nieuwe Regentes with spectacular performances from Julian Hetzel, Moritz Simon Geist, Meinhardt Krauss Feigl and Rita Gobi & Ryoji Yamaguchi, as well as the mesmerizing work of Tivon Rice, commissioned by Modern Body Festival. Look out for our next adventures, and we hope to see you there soon!

Impressions from ALIEN BODIES exhibition (Oct 26-28)

ALIEN BODIES Weekend 1 is behind us! Between 26-28 October 2018 we spent 3 inspiring days at the Grey Space in the Middle with the beautiful works of  Sabina Hyoju Ahn, The Constitute, Hertog Nadler, Alina Ozerova, Natalia Papaeva, María Molina Peiró, Alcaeus Spyrou, Erdem Taşdelen, WeiHaw Wang, and ^ studio. Thanks everyone for coming to the exhibition to experience all the works, and for joining our Symposium, and weekend 1 party with Snackbar Smakversterker Soundsystem and DJ Yiannis. We had an amazing time and hope you did to!

We are thrilled to announce our final additions to the program:

The mesmerizing 4-channel video installation The Four Riders from artist duo Hertog Nadler, and 2 additional works from our open call: the intra-species bio-art installation Sonomatter by Sabina Ahn (with live performance on Friday 26 Oct) and the satirical, thought-provoking 2-channel video installation Wild Child by Erdem Taşdelen.

Satellite event: Rita Góbi dance workshop – Nov 2!

We are very pleased to be able to offer a closer look and firsthand experience with choreographer and Modern Body Festival 2018 artist Rita Gobi, in collaboration with CLOUD/Danslab,

On 2 Nov, from 17:30-19:30 Rita will be offering a special workshop for movers of all levels at CLOUD/Danslab, exploring her unique approach to movement and choreography! Come take part in this unique opportunity!

Join the Modern Body Festival team! We are an intermedia initiative at the intersection of technology, art and performance, run by artists. Our small, ambitious initiative would be absolutely impossible without our amazing volunteers!

Would you like to give us a hand with our exciting third edition, Modern Body Festival 2018: ALIEN BODIES?

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers!! Get a behind the scenes look at robots making techno, be a tour guide for an intimate out-of-body audio journey, help keep spaced out aliens in check, and more! Greeters, hosts, photographers, assistance with installations, sound and light, build up and construction, there is an endless list of possibilities! We are looking for people during the weekend exhibition, performances, symposium and afterparty as well as for build up and break down (Oct 24-28 & Nov 1-4). Interested? Confirmed! Bass, techno, and sonic robots with Moritz Simon Geist!

Bumping robot techno? Yes, please!

We are very excited to announce the pre-premiere of Moritz Simon Geist’s debut solo album, ‘Robotic Electronic Music’, at Modern Body Festival 2018!

Moritz teamed up with IDM legends Mouse on Mars to produce the world’s first techno record played entirely by self-made futuristic robots. The album will be released on Geists’s label Sonic Robots Records via techno big-hitters Kompakt on November 16.

Moritz and his sonic robots will be performing an hour-long, booty-shaking live set on November 2nd, at De Nieuwe Regentes. See you on the dancefloor!

This prize-winning participatory theater performance is a gripping work on the ethics of modern warfare at a distance, militainment, and the gamification of violence. It involves 3 performers, the audience, a Baghdad-based gamer/drone operator, and an internet-controlled sniper paintball gun.
