OCT 26-28 | EXHIBITION | THE GREY SPACE IN THE MIDDLE
Part manifesto, part science fiction, Common Task tells a story of a technologist’s becoming in a world of fully simulated planned economy, where all activity is tracked and all data is stored forever; a world without funerals and fear of death, where everyone believes in the virtual afterlife achieved through the overcoming of one’s human nature. The short film speculates on an alternative Russian history which combines and embraces the philosophy of Russian cosmism, Soviet cybernetics research and contemporary technofetishisation. A new belief system dubbed Neocosmism promotes immortality as the common task of the humankind.
